projecto!

Char Color Comps (Chosen ones):

Some Ship Color Comps:

Junior project character...got to do some action poses for him to give him a little more life...this was basically traced from a photo of a maquette, which allowed me to copy the form exactly, and it should be re-copyable into 3D.

Parallel iteration. Kirk would always take his paths and move them as he worked on them to not only see progress but continuing flaws, that are not just mapped in memory but repeating through drawings. The couple next images also show better what I mean.

Take one simple drawing, maintain it on the page, but copy it and move it over on the page, and repeat that once you've added detail that makes it different from the previous drawing, or better. I think, a good technique. Iterative files are good for saving your ass, but keeping old drawings to compare with the new drawings is even MORE helpful in progress. And I never look back into my old files, whereas this is a constant reminder (and possibly, a better option if I need to start over). As Kirk would say "comparison."

See what I mean?

Painter, reading the help file:

Some painter learning pratice...man this guy here's got a crooked nose! Must say that painter does have some redeeming qualities, more specifically if you read the help file!

good idea pile

First maya rig--now to skin!!! And/or learn more about rigging...O.O. Yay boob bones...
1) porno musical

There is always two things to think about daily. Whether we are consuming or creating. Even when we create we may have consumed some other form of information in order to create. Self-consuming may lead to the withering of imaginations, or maybe to the striking of our real ambitions. We all operate differently. A fire that consumes only itself will burn out. Yet there must be a way to sustain without mass consumption and addiction to consumption. A fire is transformative, and therefore, can take an idea and make it entirely new through chemical reaction. But it must be made totally interactive, and totally invasive, and distill what the real theory is of what the consumed speaks of. That we can focus our ideas into a ray of light and ignore some of the humanly weaknesses is what we must strive for...and yet again, we all operate differently.

maya progress and robots

For my next trick, I will try to keep observing from life instead of making it up before I'm done...

I'll come back to this later...

Interior project with some textures...better lighting on the way...

Progress (Newest First):

First Maya exterior, in the first, very rough stage. Man, I was strapped for time for this assignment, but luckily its the first pass. I pretty much did this in one day, which was kind of surprising, but not really since the textures were based off pictures. Very bare, but I think a decent start. More to come (geez, check out the super-busy street texture and semi-crazy background...LOL).

So starting in orthographic view is a REALLY good way to take advantage of the lack of perspective (thanks ImagineFX, for that tip). When 3/4 is becoming too much work, orthographic can really be helpful, especially in the silhouette stage, and can work easily with square or round brushes, with the brushes spaced out in different ways.

Tesla animations (they never got in the game though :<). I'm missing a few death animations, but these were really fun to make. I used FFD which totally was not kosher with our game engine, so all fault is mine for loss of drag shapes. Also, a great way to check animations is to watch it out of the corner of your eye. Kinda weird, but maybe its tapping into that premordial brain of ours.

Robots for Tad...!

Mentioned this technique before. It's fun!

Here are some Tuts for some techniques I mentioned before. Thank Kirk for some of a lot of these theories. :D
