Worked more on this...not done yet, but was really fun to add to.

Might do a liquefy/refinement pass again sometime soon...

what communes among the sky and earth

Playing with color, and using gray to create neutral compliments, and trying to learn to identify light/color fatigue and put the lights and darks where the form makes the most sense. Since I still have two drawings I'm behind on...I wanted to put this away for just right now.

This reminds me of my favorite game.

more john c reilly

The last one was quite distorted, so I drew some more on this guy and tugged his features in the right direction, and improved saturation in places. Two more to go!

Learned about light transitions on skin, and how often it goes from light, middle color (most saturated) to dark (somewhat less saturated).

unfinished lunchtime sketch...these are piling up on me...!

one thing I'm starting to learn is that perspective is a definite way to create visual interest, even in figures. must use it more!

Hungle Bungle and the Silly Pictures Color Mega Fun

I was looking at human skin yesterday, and man, it has so many amazing colors. So I wanted to figure out a palette for those colors and make some small palette mini drawings with them.

Sketch that I started and didn't finish from a couple days ago.

Also, found this great online resource for Bridgeman stuff:

big bad wolf come over to my ranch

I wanted to try painting the motorcycle today again, and though the wheels and certain parts bug the shit out of me, this was a good exercise. The left side worked out, but I think not taking my eyes away from this all day gave them a bit of fatigue in the rest of the parts.

Took way too long to do, but will definitely help me work to get better.

Fucking wheels!

HAHAHAHAHA

Oh man. My brain straight died on me while I tried to draw this.

Look at the fucking wheels! I was so tired that my hands were like "fuck this biyatch!" and then my brain was like "sleep yo?". Fucking shit.

Ah well, sometimes is great to just face plant. :)

If I can figure out how to draw motorcycles better, I know it will help with some problems I have when trying to draw pure form objects, like robots, which is my ultimate goal of life. Robots.

Added some more time to the top one, fixing the eyes.

speedycolor

Wanted to see how fast I could quickly color this...still quite sketchy but experimenting with color techniques was cool. Apparently laying down colors of one type (dark red, for example) and then laying down a bluish color creates a nice effect when used with another color (a highlight). Also, starting with a white figure is nice because it can help you figure out lighting quickly.

now we sip champagne when we thirstay

I updated this one, but I'm three days behind this week. o.o. Hopefully some good sketches will come from life drawing today?

Some sketches from today using this awesome tool my friend Ernesto showed me:

sketch

from a photo...trying to force myself to do straight ahead blind contour...(notice the pro-ass hand). not as accurate to the photo as I'd like but, good practice nonetheless. Sometimes you still just need to post your failures.

I was at Walgreens at about  2 am last night trying to find a wrist splint, and I nearly shat myself when I saw this. I hate short shirts, and these are a godpoop of a solution for the ones I have. And, I'm pretty sure I could sew my own of these.

art challenge stuff

Did an art challenge with a friend at work--and it was a blast! I mainly kind of scrambled at the beginning, then started doing things from life and photos (which are usually pretty hard for me). Overall, I learned a lot and am looking forward to doing it again sometime soon!
