art challenge mar-apr

Whoooooo.
These past couple of months have been rough.

I got laid off, and man, did that take its toll on me.

One of my favorite people, Louis CK*, once said that failure is much more interesting and valuable than success, because it leaves forensics.

There's a crime scene left afterwards that requires critical thinking that winning doesn't always prompt.

Well, these past few months have been a bloodbath for me. Fuck it, I'm cashing in all my first-world angst and reaching for the hyperbole. Blood-guts-shit-sweat-tears-bath.

The last time I was unemployed, I was in college during my first freshman semester.

It was one of the best times of my life. An endless stream of unsweetened black coffee, sleeping maybe 3 hours a night, working 20 hour days...

OK, so it just sounds glamorous. Really what I became was period of over-exhaustion that lasted years.
One thing that it did that was strange was that over the course of a day, I started to overheat like a CPU with cheap thermal paste. Or a phaser with a locked charge.

During the course of the night, I would have waves of heat rushing over me from lack of sleep and drawing all day. When I think back I can't believe how crazy it was.

But that period of imbalanced over-working makes me appreciate the things I've learned now.

A failure to balance myself lead to searching, and learning, something that doing something right the first time doesn't usually lead to.

So here I am again, given time to work to my heart's content.

I'm working on a Goat Simulator Map. Can you tell where it's from? it might be hard since the room is barely there. I've been working on both learning UDK and making assets, so what I have is bare-boned. But I'm really excited. I'm tits deep in it, and it's got my passion ransomed.

Anyhoo, that's what I'm up to.

* I miss the racist, child-rapey, intelligent, and misogyny-ridden version of his comedy--but hey, you gotta make money, and sometimes that you gotta tone it down if you wanna buy a yacht someday. It's still around if you search YouTube with his name and O and A. I think his radio appearance showcase his best and most outrageous stuff.
